Severe Acne

It appears likely you have severe acne, with nodules or cysts in evidence. Occasionally people only have nodular lesions with little in the way of papules or pustules. Mostly there is a mix of all types of acne lesions. This type of acne needs to be controlled to prevent scarring.

Treatments

Oral antibiotics will be prescribed for severe acne. If these fail, then isotretinoin capsules are the next level of treatment. In Australia only dermatologists can prescribe isotretinoin.
